Had two great shows this week! The first night was all-acoustic while the second night was the sweatiest time of my life. Success!

My 4th-of-July-firework-face. I’m a little late on the post, but it’s never the wrong time to admire diamonds in the sky.

My version of “Unthinkable” was used by a solo dancer on last week’s episode of ‘So You Think You Can Dance! The dancer, Miranda created such a beautiful routine. I only wish it was longer! xo

Honda asked me to write a song to be used as an example for their campaign, “The Sounds of Civic.” I wanted to write something that had a rock-out-with-the-windows-down because for me, driving is empowering! It’s a form of transportation but also a form of therapy.

“Driving for Freedom” is about wanting a change in your life and MAKING it! What kind of music do you drive to?

Performing for Miami’s Chamber of Commerce! Can I please call attention to the stank-face coming from the bass section of the band?! haha yes.

I recently attended an event called “God Loves Poetry” - a project that has creatively manipulated extreme statements of hatred into positive poems.

These “black-out poems” were displayed on the walls along with space for others, as full-articles were printed for everyone to create their own. This idea reminded me how important it is for us to “black-out” all the negative things we come across everyday. The things we can’t black-out, we should try to find the very best in!

My blackout poem: ‘You have grace & with your every breath, don’t forget the voice of God’

This was a fun video to record. I was actually stressing about how to wear my hair for the main shot while setting up. Up, down, side-ways?! I realized, in that moment, that my self-conscious behavior was contradicting the main message of the song I was singing. I left my hair down and let the worry go. Let’s not stress so much about the way we look..if we focus on these things we miss the actual moments we’re living in!

Here’s a little message for you:

We spend our entire lives searching for happiness. Whether its family, success, love- our definition of “happy” must always begin with the light inside of us. When our spirit shines all good things are visible. Love ‘Who You Are’ because you are ‘Perfect’. Xox, MZ
